Sony BDP-N460--the latest offering by Sony--weighs just under 5 pounds and is one of the best Blu-Ray players around, with a whole bunch of new features and functionalities that make playing Blu-Ray disks and web streaming a whole new experience.
Features of Sony BDP-N460
The Sony BDP-N460 comes with a stylish design, with the front panel made of glossy sleek finish and minimal clutter--only two buttons are on the right side of the panel, the play and the stop, and above are the eject and the power buttons. The disk tray is hidden and only revealed when the eject button is pressed, which opens up the front panel. The Sony BDP-N460 features a large, basic LCD screen with a USB port underneath. This player supports Blu-Ray, DVDs, CD, Audio, MP3, and JPEG files.
Drawbacks of Sony BDP-N460
Gripes about the Sony BDP-N460 involve the lack of WiFi capability and the lack of an internal memory. If you want to download BD-Live content, you have to plug in a flash drive for storage. There is also no eject button on the remote. However, the device can be fitted with a Linksys Wireless Ethernet Bridge. This gives the player the capability to stream from various sources, among them Netflix, Youtube, Sony Pictures Television, and Wired.
For its price, the Sony BDP-N460 is a reasonable buy. This is perfect for someone looking for nothing more than a player that can read Blu-Ray discs with above-average streaming features, in a cool design and at a mid-range price.

When it comes to business equipment, a fax machine is often a necessity. Here's how to choose the best machine for your home office.
How a fax machine works
A fax machine, short for facsimilie machine, works by transmitting messges through telephone wire by first turning information into a series of dots and digitizing this information so that it can be transmitted. When the signals arrive at their destination, they are then converted into dots that make up the original message. Fax machines have become the faster, more convenient alternative to the post office. A fax machine is composed of an optical scanner useful in digitizing images, a printer, and a telephone line. Older models are thermal, which means they use a special kind of paper rolls required for the machine to work.
What to look for in a home office fax machine
The quality of the print, the reliability of the model, and the look of the machine are all major considerations. Experts advise that you look for machines with four choices for image quality, choose a machine that is easiest to use, and determine what other features you cannot do without. For example, you may need to choose a machine that has delayed transmission, has an integrated digital answering machine, has the aibility to poll other fax machines and to perform other tasks such as copy reduction and enlargement.
A fax machine is an important piece of electronic equipment that no office should do without. When choosing a fax machine, know what features you need and take your pick among the models and brands you trust.

A seemingly innocuous document such as a bank statement, credit card bill, or an ATM receipt can be used to commit identity theft and fraud. Security experts in both the government and private sector recommend that you make such documents inaccessible by running them through a paper shredder before throwing them away.
How a paper shredder works
A paper shredder is a machine that grabs paper and runs them against sharp blades, cutting the paper into tiny pieces. This makes whatever was printed on the paper unreadable. Paper shredders come in three basic types: strip cut or spaghetti cut shredders, cross cut or confetti shredders, and granulator shredders. Strip cut shredders, as the name implies, simply cut the paper into thin strips. Cross cut shredders cut the paper into small, confetti-like pieces. Granulator shredders process paper into very fine particles, much smaller than those produced by cross cut shredders.
What to look for in a paper shredder
When selecting a paper shredder, the most important factors to consider are (1) the size of the documents you will be shredding, (2) the amount or volume of paper you will be shredding each day, (3) the level of security you require, and (4) the cost of the paper shredder, including the expense involved in maintaining it.
Among the types of paper shredders, strip cut models are the least expensive and the easiest to maintain. However, it also easiest to reassemble documents shredded by strip cut machines. Cross cut models provide more security, but are more expensive and require more care. Granulator machines are usually found in government and big business offices. The high level of security they provide is matched by their high cost and maintenance requirements. Most households and offices probably will not need a paper shredder as high end as the granulator model.

You don’t need to rally with Greenpeace or live a monk’s life to be environment-conscious. You can simply practice the right energy-saving tips when using your home appliances.
Unplug unused home appliances.
The number one rule is to never forget to unplug unused home appliances. Electricity still runs when it is left plug.
Schedule a batch laundry with your washing machine.
Always do your laundry in one go so that you save enough water and don’t end up using any in excess. It’s best to have the laundry run during the off-peak electric hours.
Don’t forget to defrost your refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
This way you minimize frost build up. Ice building up in the inside coils of the refrigerator unit will end up running longer to preserve cold temperatures, ultimately wasting more energy. People who live in warm countries will have to defrost more frequently if they have a manual defrost model. Be sure to adjust your thermostat to a higher temperature to save more energy.

The problem of climate change is real, and we must all do our part to lessen the gravity of this problem. Proper use of home electronics will not only contribute to saving the earth but also in lessening electronic bill expenses.
Avoid vampire power—unplug the home appliance.
The number one tip in using home appliances is to unplug them when they are not in use. About 40% of all your electricity at home is consumed while your electronics are off. On standby, a laptop consumes 16.5 watts and 34.1 turned on.
Invest on energy efficient home electronic devices.
Many electronic devices come with Energy Star ratings. Investing in these will save you more money on electric and water utilities. Start looking through online shops and review sites for the best energy-efficient electronic devices.
Recycle and reuse electronic devices .
Another energy saving option is to reuse electronic devices. You may end up spending more by buying a new appliance. Instead, invest in affordable repairs to make the most out of your old electronic devices.

The Waterless Washing Machine is an exciting development that will not only save you water but also the environment. The model is relatively new but promises quality and less energy consumption.
Waterless washing machine features
One waterless washing machine uses nylon polymer beads to absorb the clothes’ stains. Only a small cup of water is used to wash the beads. After which, the water dissolves the stains as the beads soak up dirt along with the water. The dirt is fully absorbed by the beads’ center.
Waterless washing machine benefits and disadvantages
The waterless washing machine’s main advantage is its energy-efficient run. You save more on water and cut down on CO2 emissions. Since this is a new model, potential customers may be a bit wary to invest in a new type of washing machine.
Guide to using this type of washer
After the wash, the beads remove themselves automatically. You won’t need to worry about buying new beads as extra costs. No cleaning is needed for them as well, as the beads can be used for over 100 laundry loads.

I know, they're beauties! Just to see them hanging loosely or flatly on your walls can totally improve your living room space. They're sleek, chic, and state-of the-art. I can't blame anyone who'll fall in love with this precious piece. But flat screen TV is not as reliable as it looks and most of the time, it's just an ultimate fantasy more than a necessity. There are pros and cons in buying this home electronic device. Don't you just jump into impulsive trade; after all, not all things on sale are for everyone to have.

There's always a price for beauty, but how much are you willing to spare for some stylish design that is light and portable? You don't need a strong back; you can lift the TV anywhere or move it around your walls. With its variety and sizes, it is proven to be flexible and irresistible. An LCD or flat screen can be 2-in-1. While functioning as a TV, you can also use it as PC monitor. Now, how's that for practical value? With high definition and quality video programming, we are certain to get the best viewing experience of detail and color.

While there are gains, there are also drawbacks in acquiring this fragile piece. One too obvious reason for some consumers is the exorbitant cost. Usually, the price is pegged at a thousand dollars, which for some common American household, may be a li'l much to expend from their budget. More so, you cannot entrust everything to LCDs; they can be unreliable when it comes to cable programming and satellite transmission. Some LCDs are also not advisable for video gaming while some of its external components can be a hassle, too. If plasma sets burn in static image, it can damage the TV permanently. So if I were you, I'll assess its real value.

Whether its a flat screen or an ordinary box, TV is your most popular companion at home. It can be a friend or a foe but always be grateful for the wonder of its technology. Seeing the world in a box is one of mans best inventions. You learn, you share and you always take part in its viewing experience. Have you ever taken notice how many times it came to your rescue? It entertains you and gives you practical ideas to make living worthwhile. Although TV viewing may have its adverse effects, life will never be the same without moving characters that resemble to life.

I recently purchased a wide screen flat TV. Man, its a beauty hanging on my living room! I cant take my eyes of it and even if I spent too much for this guilty pleasure, I really dont mind for Im sure it will last some time and give me the comfort of a total entertainment jive. Of course, well have to take care of it like a living room family. And for me, I limit my use to 6 hours or a lil more and I always unplug the connections after. You see I can be very meticulous but at least I can also save energy and some pennys worth from my electric bill. You dont have to live in a jungle and turn the volume too loud. Not only will you have the decency of watching but the ability to stop the rapid winding on your electric meter.

TV viewing is not bad. But too much can lead to weary, tired eyes. Dont blame the TV! Curse it on the poor lighting. When its dark, your eyes adjust to the light exerting too much effort so you can see through the images. Yet when its bright, your eyes still manage to make the necessary contrasting effect just so you can watch clearly. An ample lighting system wont only save your eyes from wear and tear, it will give you the benefit of effective personal viewing as well. TV has millions of information to share and you can expect that not all things are filtered to be good, so if you have kids at home, its part of your authority to limit their use or substantiate the ideas they gather. TV viewing can either be powerful or harmful and its up to you what effect youll take.

We are more powerful than we ever thought but that power doesn't come from the technological advances we've made: it's the power to choose. There are times when choices are not as easy as it looks. In fact, often, we are torn apart and stuck in a dilemma. Why not when we're confronted with competitive options most of the time? One way or another, we'll always have our losses and gains. The important thing is that we manage and meet our quintessential needs. Some choices can be good or evil, foolish or wise or a matter of life and death. But you are what you choose to be. A quote from Peter Parker says,"with great power comes great responsibility."

While they say that computers do make things easier, it can also be the bane of our existence. People are predisposed to shame and disgrace with the proliferation of uninhibited data and images. How many computer-generated scams have ruined lives, family and career? I'm not even surprised if one day, our brains would be injected with microchips of artificial intelligence or we'll be surrounded by robots and space glides. The Matrix is not far from reality. But before that day comes, we should be the master of our own computers. We shouldn't be victims of its manipulative power and technology.

Some things do become extinct while others become obsolete in time. But whatever is lost, man makes up for it with more meaningful alternatives. One example is computers, to transcend information gap and international boundaries, we have this electronic device at our disposal and use. So if you were to choose, will your computer be a desktop or a laptop? Although laptop looks more appealing, there are drawbacks in selecting this piece. The benefit of having a laptop is its portability, however, it may also be easier to steal while you lose valuable data along with it. You also cannot tinker with it as much as you want to. Parts are "proprietary," meaning the manufacturer can only be the one to replace it. And what if warranty expires? You'll pay more even if you can have a more powerful desktop for the same price.

To ensure health and safety of your family, you have to keep your home spotless clean. Your eyes may not see dusts, but it's not an excuse to risk your family's comfort and well-being. Invisible particles may cause infection and weaken your body's system without you knowing it. So it's very important that you have vacuum cleaners to suck up the dirt and maintain a germ-free house.
Wednesday, May 2. 2007
You have to develop a routine in vacuum cleaning. To save energy and to slash off the rates on your electric bill, use vacuum cleaners twice a week. It's wise to use it on a Wednesday and Sunday, with just the right interval of time. Before you plug it in the socket, make sure that you've dust off the furnitures, drawers, and cabinets with a damp cloth. Don't just vacuum everywhere. Plan systematically where you'll start. That way, you'll be finished in no time covering all the spots.

It's one of the home appliances that is built to last. You don't have to upgrade the model every now and then. Take care of it the way it takes care of the messy scare in your house. Choose a good spot for storage and keep it away from kids. Avoid it from getting wet or it will wear out and tear down.

Tell me what you're wearing and I'll tell you who you are? Whether you believe in this unfair judgment or not, there's nothing you can do but submit yourself to the scrutinizing eyes of a superficial society. Elegant, charming, and sophisticated, that's their initial assessment and quick perception when you're dressed in Armani. It matters a lot how you dress up and carry yourself. They say it speaks a lot about your character and personality. I always believe in putting my best foot forward. I don't risk placing my reputation under unfair judgment, so I make sure that my suits are kept clean and wrinkle-free all the time. I don't risk comfort either so I personally supervise the laundry of my clothes to ensure that my expensive suits are preserved and maintained with utmost care. I believe in the importance of a household laundry service and the power of washing machine.

Consume space wisely. Place your washing machine close to the water supply connection. Also, make sure that it has a socket outlet and a good drainage area. Keep it away from direct sunlight for it will soon tarnish the paint of your washing machine. Give room for enough number of clothes. Do not overload its capacity and separate the clothes by color, types, and set aside those with zipper and buttons. If you put too many clothes, it will affect the spinning speed and ability of the washing machine.
Saturday, April 28. 2007
Use the right amount and type of detergent for your clothes and for your washing machine. For 10 litres of water, you'll need 1/2 scoop of detergent powder. A spin dryer can dry your clothes up to 85%. Segregate your clothes by type of fabric and color. Then, place them evenly in the dryer. Remember that you cannot spin dry woolen fabrics or they'll lose the shape and style. Just drain water after use. Give it a cleaning treat once a month or whenever there's a starch formula in your detergent solution.

Can openers give rigid and crooked edges upon opening a can that often result to serious cut in a hand or in fingers and many moms are complaining about its dangers not only to them, but also to their youngsters who are eager to use can openers. If stricken by ill fate, a simple cut might lead to a serious wound that could cause a fatal condition such as tetanus. This problem seems to be plain and simple that people tend to ignore it.
Thursday, April 26. 2007
Can openers are part of our daily life and it is an often neglected tool because people don't consider it as a necessity. However, it is an inexpensive powerful tool that can make a kitchen task easier. We always give credit to the wide screen TV in giving us the world of moving pictures; the audio masterpiece for giving us the freedom to hear and enjoy sounds; and for computers in speeding up the search for our utmost necessities. But how about the unsung heroes? Have you ever paid tribute to your iron, for the wrinkle-free clothes you take along with you to daily habits of your life? They are resting on the other corner, less important for you but they always deliver the best whenever you use them. The only tribute you can give the iron is the benefit of saving energy and using them with compassion and care.
